Flag aspect ratios are one of my favorite trivia topics!
*The flags of Monaco and Indonesia differ only in aspect ratio.
*Two countries have square flags (Vatican City and Switzerland).
*The non-square flag closest to a square is Belgium (15 to 13).
*The only flag to be narrower than a square is the (non-rectangular) flag of Nepal.
*The widest flag is the flag of Qatar (28 to 11).
*The most common aspect ratios are 3 to 2, 2 to 1, and 5 to 3.
*The most complicated rational aspect ratio is 335 to 189, used by El Salvador.
*Three flags have irrational aspect ratio
Togo (the golden ratio 1.618034 to 1), Nepal (around 0.820338 to 1), and Iran (around 1.747703 to 1).
*Iran officially provides an alternative "simplified" construction of the flag resulting in an aspect ratio of 7 to 4, or 1.75 to 1.
