This isn’t a song. It’s a bleeding Masterpiece. Never realised how wonderful Sam Brown’s voice was. Anyone who doesn’t like this can’t claim to like Music. Period.

I can't express how this song makes me feel. I feel like Pink Floyd goes beyond the boundaries of planet earth and that if there was a galactic or universal concert they would be on the main stage! If this doesn't penetrate your soul than nothing can.

Great vocals here but you gotta hand it to Claire Torry who improvised it on the spot in Abbey Rd for the album. With little to no instruction of what the band wanted she pulled that incredible vocal out of her arse and it is still one of the most hauntingly beautiful pieces of music in history.

That moment when Sam's shoulders just drop and she lets rip still gives me shivers. What a woman.

RIP Claudia Fontaine 1960-2018 (the singer at 3:42)

The 2 min mark, watching that woman put her heart and soul in to that part of the song absolutely floors me, and brings tears to my eyes. But it feels so incredible

A scream of freedom
A scream of power
A scream of struggle
A scream of pain
A scream of triumph
Against every obstacle in your way

Still my favorite song off Dark Side of the Moon. My kids don't like it, have never understood it, but it always moves me.

It's funny (awesome) how a song without lyrics can say so much more that most songs written nowadays, such a masterpiece, has so many influence on me as a musician, and I recently paid tribute to it by playing it in a 5 minute loop session, along with all the tracks from this historic album, link in replies below in case anyone wants to watch it!

When people say Adele has a powerful voice, I say "now there's no clear lyrics to the song, but I must suggest listening to great gig in the sky"
Adele will never reach such nirvana as anyone who takes the mantle to this song

Sam brown's interpretation of this song in absolutely INCREDIBLE and she as a singer is extremely underrated. This performance is as good as the original in the album. at 2:00 i get chills every. Time.

55 years old, and I still
cry for happiness when I listen Pink Floyd, and
in particular this song, which is the most beautiful ever made in human history. Your senses fluctuate, music kidnaps you.

When I feel good,
When I feel bad,
When I am up,
When I am down,
No matter what,
I always resort back to this song.

Sam Brown is brilliant, and we hope that no one will forget Durga McBroom and Claudia Fontaine, who are also BRILLIANT!

The contrast between the powerful frightening scream and the voice saying "I`m not frightened of dying" makes this piece of music amazingly beautiful. You can listen to it a 100 times but you can never explain the takes you beyond!!!
