The new 2020 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is a brand new, third generation model. This latest Toyota Highlander Hybrid uses a new 2.5L 4-Cylinder matched to the electric hybrid system. The Output of the gasoline engine and electric motors of the Highlander is 243hp, which is down from the last model but torque is 263 lb.-ft. of torque, which is up almost 50 lb.-ft. This makes this latest Toyota Highlander Hybrid a much better 7-passenger utility to drive. Acceleration is nabber and the new platform handles better. The interior is capable of seating for 7 or 8-passengers over three rows. Styling has been evolved to a more powerful looking, yet elegant design. Fuel economy for the new Toyota Highlander Hybrid is just 6.7L/100km in the city and 6.8L/100km on the HWY, which is 36 MPG in the city and 35 MPG on the HWY. This is the kind of fuel economy found in compact cars ten years ago!

Team Motormouth, I finally saw one of these on the road here in Ontario this week and had a chance to chat with the owner. It amazes me that this 3 row CUV gets better mpg in city/suburban driving than an ordinary Civic or Corolla. That new Hybrid Sienna is just as impressive.

Hi Zach, I just want to say thanks to you both. We have a Rav4 hybrid and will eventually update our 2017 highlander to a hybrid as well. We love our cars even if they are the most boring cars ever!

Just picked up a 2020 rav4 hybrid and I’m blown away. As my last 10 cars were bmw or Audi, it rides really smooth. Now a German car it ISNT, but man I love my 5.6l/100 kms im getting and I’ll be able to sell it 4 years later with 40k kms at a nominal loss 👏🏻

I am so glad that Andrea mentioned reducing one's carbon footprint a number of times because in American reviews on hybrids the focus is mainly on increased fuel economy, which yes, is important, but not as important as reducing toxic emissions. European car reviews are similar in that they do mention reducing one's carbon footprint and talk about environmental concerns.

We have a 2017 HH. Best fuel use to date has been (summer) combined city/highway is 6.47 L/100km. Great vehicle all round.

Very entertaining and hilarious review. Zack you got me 😆😂🤣 with the pink bike. Thanks for answering my question. Wife and I decided to upgrade for 2020 gas model based on being in the garage for family outings only when I’m back from traveling. She got the 2020 RAV4 Hybrid for daily use. Keep it up with the couple reviews! 👍🏼👍🏼

I imagine many people find comfort in a boring vehicle. It's something that they don't need to think about or consider while driving with 5 screaming kids at full blast .

Can we rely on full available power from both fuel and electric engines to always be there? The battery must sometimes be too low and have less energy or the fuel engine'power be used to charge battery, I always wondered about power and torque consistency with these cars.
