Believe it or not some school mates, and I used to do this in the 80s. Whom ever had the metal shop class first would unlock the area it was in and we would get just enough every day not to be missed. So Friday night with no school the next day, we would attach a little at a time to a clothes hanger and light it. The effect from it was amazing as you swung the hanger like a lasso.🤔👍🏿

In gr 9 science, we heated steel wool with a Bunsen burner then exposed it to pure oxygen. It went off like a super bright flash bulb. Cool.
