Detroit New DT12 - IPM Intro Training Video

Intelligent Powertrain Management, or IPM, is the Detroit DT12 predictive cruise control feature.

I have been in a brand new 2019 Cascadia with a Detroit D12 using IPM for about a week now and it is a complete pain in the ass. The cruise control slows down when I am nowhere near a grade and I have to put my foot on the pedal and speed it back up because my truck is continually slowing down from what I have the cruise speed set at. If you have an option to decline this feature, do yourself a favor and do so. Huge disappointment.

This feature is a pain in the butt. It slows you down almost every time when it does not need to slow down if I set my cruise at 65, for almost 90% of the time it cruises at 63 or 62 this is purely for fuel efficiency not for trip management it definitely it increases your trip time since I had an older cascadia which I can compare to

How can I deactivate this My check engine light is on ! “IPM Not Active “is showing on my dash indicator !

It is One of the most frustrating most irritating Features ever developed on a semi truck. It causes other drivers to think that you're playing games and not letting them pass you at times Because it will randomly start to accelerate and then other times they pass you only for you to pass them a mile down the road. Four, you will go to past them and all of a sudden. It disengages and you go back into coast mode So then everybody behind you has to slow down with you. It causes way more passing and interactions between vehicles. And so to get around it, what you end up having to do is turn your cruise control off. And just use your right foot for hours and hour and an hours every single day. It basically defeats the purpose of having cruise control on in the first place.

How do you disable it? This feature fucking sucks! It’s causing me to want to quit driving altogether..

A sure sign you're at a cheap company. One of the worst features to have on a truck.
