What is a Cartesian Vector?

Just what is a cartesian vector exactly? In this video I will explain what cartesian vectors are, how to draw cartesian vectors, and how to write a linear combination of unit vectors.

As it turns out, Cartesian vectors apply something you already know quite a bit about if you've been studying mathematics at the secondary level. We can use Cartesian coordinates to understand how to write Cartesian vectors.

This video will also walk you through the process of how to write a linear combination of the vector by using i and j unit vectors. We can write any Cartesian vector as a linear combination of unit vectors by finding out how many i and j vectors we need to produce the vector.

These concepts are all introduced in the Introduction to Vectors unit of the MCV4U course.
