What's funny since being treated with ADHD medication, my heart rate is lower, my sleep quality has increased, and I'm able to get up early in the morning. I run a small repair business, and I would struggle without the medication. One thing people must understand that everyone responds to the medication differently, there are different types of ADHD medication; stimulant and non-stimulant, and there is a titration period for it to find what works best. If you're getting poor results, you're likely taking too much or too little, or the wrong type of meds. There is an overwhelming amount of research which shows the benefits of ADHD medication, and severe side effects are rare. This guy should know this by now.

So what's the alternative should people with ADHD just jump off the roof and not even try the one chance they have to feel better.. it's so easy for someone who has never been on your shoes to just blatantly dismiss ADHD as if people with it have never tried without meds.. tried much harder than you could ever do in your whole life.. you are just blessed to be neurotypical.. trying living our life for once... it's a constant battle between you and your mind

I am 17 and I’ve started doing coc**ne when I was 15 at parties and occasionally shortly after I got addicted without knowing. The only reason I got addicted was because it made me a lot more productive and focused, but it messed up my life. I quit cold turkey after relapsing many times and I got prescribed adderall for my adhd best alternative and helps a lot. I’ll never look back at ❄️ but don’t talk about adhd meds if you’ve never been diagnosed you won’t know how much it helps us🙏🏼

stimulants activate the inhibitory areas of the brain which are often a struggle for those of us with ADHD (hyperactivity, easy distraction, excessive talking/ over sharing). They affect us differently. Ad'der'all makes me quiet and focused. When I take tolerance breaks, I talk all day long, even to myself and my brain has 500 inner monologues going 24/7. I can't sleep without medication due to my restless brain, non-stop thought processes and anxiety from all the things I didn't get done during the day. When I go back on, my routine becomes more tolerable and I actually get to sleep at a reasonable hour. I'm up until at least 1 am without it, and have to get up at 6:30 am

Try educating yourself about the benefits and the diversity of bodies in how they process them

I don't like taking my meds, I feel way happier without them. Unfortunately I work in a field were people can die, so I take them the days I need to.

Benefits out weight the side effects in my family. My kiddo will take them as we discuss how his brain has a deficiency. Now after two years on meds with occupational therapy, counselor and psychiatrist my 3rd grader is on track in school for the first time every. Grateful for these meds that allow my kiddo to access education like others and he loves school now.

Ok doctor to answer your question, why are they working? Because its on a case by case basis that depends on the patients personal biochemistry . So while your ssris might work for one 3/4 of us require stimulant. Stop making us suffer!

Um, sir, … stimulants actually make people with ADHD relaxed and have better sleep because we don’t have a million thoughts keeping us awake…. so I’m not sure you know what you’re talking about. Maybe you took it and felt that because you prob don’t have ADHD. JS🤷🏼‍♀️

I've taken them for 20 years. I can say that it does what it should. However, there is a cost. It can change your personality and affect relationships. You will change. Eventually, it will likely affect your blood pressure. If your dose is high, your body will be stressed. For women, hormones can interfere with effectiveness. It does affect sleep. It is harder to get a deep sleep. Just because your Dr prescribes it doesn't mean you can't be dependent on it. Listen to your body and think about a plan to taper off as you get older. Be honest with yourself about its pros and cons.

Maybe do like 5 minutes of research before you go spouting off this nonsense
