What is Networking (Computer Networking)?

Think of computer networking like people networking -- to an extent. What to learn what computer networking is and why it’s important.

As the name suggests in normal lexicon, networking means connecting. So in information and computer technology, networking means connecting devices together. Computer networking encompasses everything necessary for device communication -- including computers, servers, network design and construction, as well as network maintenance and management.

Every device or component on a network is referred to as a node, and networking enables nodes to share resources, use services, and any other form of communicating. Networks can be physical -- or wired -- or wireless, and each configuration requires its own set of equipment and software.
