Treforest: Huge smoke cloud fills sky as fire rages after ‘explosion’ in South Wales

A fire raged at an industrial estate in South Wales after an explosion on Wednesday, 13 December, prompting a major incident to be declared.

As of Thursday morning, one person remained unaccounted for and at least one building was destroyed after a fire broke out at Rizla House on Severn Road, Treforest Industrial Estate, at around 7pm the previous night.

A two-storey building was “totally alight” and “at risk of collapse”, according to South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

Three people were treated at the scene before they were discharged, a Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said.

I live near this and I heard an explosion around 8PM and then 3 helicopters about and hour later, I hope everyone is okay and safe and the pets at petwise are okay aswell

This Industrial Estate always did flout H&S regulations. People were always talking about it at Gregg's. The estate attracted the more fly-by-night type of operators

Always harping on about emissions and they send up a bunch of helicopters for what reason exactly? I drove past newcastle a couple weeks ago and had to pay a 14 quid charge because i was in a "clean air zone" im pretty sure those helicopters aren't helping clean the air.
