If Zamazenta's stocks weren't high right now, I would say it got snubbed of the same treatment for similar reasons.

And yet Zamazenta had to suffer for Zacian's crimes... although I've heard it still ended up as a menace in Gen 9 thanks to Body Press, so maybe they knew it'd be good and nerfed it just in case.

The big problem with Regidrago is its awkward speed stat of 80. Not fast enough to justify investing in, leaving it vulnerable to taking damage first, but also not slow enough to run with trick room. If they had made it really slow, it would work amazing in trick room teams being able to spam 150 power Dragon Energy with stab + dragon maw buffs (essentially making it 337 base power, 506 if you ran it with choice specs).

It's funny considering how the nerf to Regieleki made it completely disappear in VGC but yet it's become better than ever in singles. Probably because it has actual coverage now...

IIRC, Beautifly got its stats buffed at one point but Dustox didn't. So I guess that's another case of a counterpart not getting equal treatment.

To be completely fair, Regieleki has a pretty good signature move thats also an Electric type move, and it's still blazing fast. Plus it hits a lot of things well enough, with the only problem it had (coverage for Ground) being fixed in Gen 9.

However Regidrago still has the issue of Fairy types, with a lot of dominant Fairy-types (think Flutter Mane) also being able to carry coverage for its Teras like Steel and Poison. So Regidrago needed all the help it could get lol

It's because back in generation 8 Eleki's only real weakness was its ground weakness, sure you could give it an air balloon so it wouldn't get hit by ground moves but it had no way to hit ground types back. Nowadays in Gen 9 it has access to the terastal mechanic and Tera Blast meaning you could make it Tera ice and allow it to hit its one weak spot for super effective damage

It's so stupid too, the community sleeps on drago. I ran a competitive team like the first week tera was available on showdown, and tera dragon drago kills ANYTHING that isn't fairy, so just build your team around him and run scarf.
Or run specs, if you run webs or something, to hit like a thermonuclear warhead.

Regidrago is actually tearing it up in vgc rn

In draft league regieleki is pretty much broken if it’s allowed to Tera, but quite awful if it has Tera banned. It’s movepool just doesn’t really work for singles draft league. For vgc it’s still a menace.

Regieleki got the short end of the stick because its moveset also sucks compared to the coverage that regidrago gets.

If Regileki is such a big treat, why we don’t see the electric dude as often anymore?

Well that’s because it lacks the utility it once had

You won’t believe how meh is the speed control Leki provides when we have a wide pool of Pokémon at 130 base speed or more

That can boost the speed even more

The nerf to transistor was a huge deal too

Transistor was 50% increase in damange

And now it is a 30%

So Leki went y from having 173 special attack with maximum investment to

138 or so

And because it can only deal this much damange with electric type moves

It is a very limited mon

Ironically Regidrago had nice opportunities with Tera to abuse a strong tipping with the nice bulk it already had

Thanks to Tera Ground, Steel and Poison

Giving him more options to deal with the counters it had

And with Dragon Cheer it had pretty decent use all things considered

And now they are a more balanced pair thanks to this consideration Gamefreak had

Tera ice regieleki was something I should’ve expected when gen 9 happened yet it completely took me by surprise. And waffle stomped me

That’s exactly why one was absurd and the other was rarely used

Whenever I run regidrago in ranked scarlet violet battles it almost always sweeps a team I haven’t ran Regieleki yet but when I was experimenting on showdown it’s a great support to its counterpart

Considering that Regidrago is the only one to really have any relevant placements (regieleki only placed good at one event in all of S/V) at tournaments this past year, I'd say you're a little out of touch when it comes to this

Regidrago is way better and somewhat used in the current (Reg G) VGC format, while regieleki basically sees no use
