Session Abstract:
The healthcare ecosystem is undergoing multiple concurrent and interdependent revolutions, with the potential to save and improve billions of lives. New technologies give rise to new failure modes, accidents, and adversaries, that cannot be perfectly anticipated or prevented. Delaying or denying these innovations to secure them will cost lives, yet if we are cavalier, high profile attacks will trigger a crisis of confidence that will have the same effect. The once distinct worlds of healthcare and cybersecurity have collided - where these domains overlap, we will be safer, sooner, working together. How must we engineer cybersecurity and societal protections to ensure we realize the promise and avoid the peril?
