Dear Old Donegal - Mike Douglas

A while back I was watching Space Ghost Coast to Coast, and at the end of an episode he starts singing this song. You can find the whole episode on youtube. Try as I might, I couldn't find the full song anywhere online, iTunes, youtube... nowhere to be found! So I bought it off amazon and here it is. If you like this track, all the other songs on the album are good too. Enjoy!!

Human memories are notoriously faulty, but in my youth, I recall Forest Tucker singing this song on F Troop. Didn't hear it again till many years later on Space Ghost. One of those tunes that sticks in the back of your head. And this version is the best.

I don’t care about space ghost. Someone needs to honor the talent and beautiful tenor voice that Dennis Day brought to us. Among other places, he appeared on the Jack Benny show for years and would sing a song on every episode. His voice was a gift and should be remembered as well as Dennis himself. Unfortunately, and ironically, he died of a capital LS, AKA Lou Gehrig’s disease. The irony is a beautiful voice control he exhibited before the disease kicked in. Thank you Dennis for all the entertainment you provided us through the years. Peace.
