austerity means you get to earn less money and receive less benefits.

hold on tight to your cash and make sure your banker does not confiscate your bank account by doing a bail-in.

It is a scary place for a nation to be when people cannot survive without federal money - and find it so devastating.  Read the CBO reports on the direction our nation is heading financially.  If that does not help you understand that states, municipalities, and people must learn to live with less federal dollars, I don't know what will.
