NJPW The New Beginning In Osaka 2025 Review: The New Generation Arrives

#njnbg #njpw #prowrestling

CORRECTION: It was Oiwa that challenged Takeshita, not Uemura.

The New Beginning show tends to be the reset for New Japan Pro-Wrestling's calendar year following Wrestle Kingdom and this year it may have been a reset for the entire company's prior five years.

Headlines by the emotion match between IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre, Jr. and challenger Hirooki Goto, the show also saw a titantic clash in the semi-main event when Gabe Kidd challenged Yota Tsuji for the IWGP Global Championship. The Young Bucks make their return to Osaka as they defend the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships against Los Ingobernables De Japon's Tetsuya Naito and Hiromu Takahashi.

However, after the nostalgic start of Hiroshi Tanahashi's retirement tour matches (this night featuring Togi Makabe) the entire night was a showcase of New Japan's young talent that seems to be finally finding their stride in 2025.

This is my review of NJPW's The New Beginning In Osaka 2025.

This is how you turn it around. Man wtf. It’s about time. We’re finally getting HoT vs War Dogs, finally getting a shift in Shota, finally getting a youth movement, and GOTO FINALLY DID IT!

G1 26 in 2016 I was happy Kenny won but I felt bad for Goto and I always been low key pulling for him ever since. I am very happy he finally won the IWGP World Heavyweight championship and got to celebrate with his family in the ring.

You're right, this absolutely felt like "old" New Japan. Popped huge on that Goto win.

Goto Winning was a beautiful moment. I'm happy he won.
I absolutely enjoyed the entire New Beginning show.
Cabe Kidd Tsuji. Was the best match of the night.
I definitely see bright future stars in those two.

I probably enjoyed TNB in Osaka more than WK this year. Really feels like they're starting to focus on the right people. They've even managed to get me interested into whats going on with Umino shaving his head and Sanada and his heel turn. Hyped for the New Japan Cup and the G1 this year.

Aew loves to talk about restoring the feeling, this restored the feeling, felt like 2017 again, Gabe is on a roll and has to 2 match of the year contenders and I can't even tell you what his signature moves are

Also takeshita and boltin doing the Arnold and Carl weathers hand shake meme to hold each other up was great I popped for that

Takeshita just stay in njpw full time

Shota's issue is that he was a young lion during NJPW's golden age, and by the time he returned from excursion that golden age was very much over, and most of the stars from that era were gone.

He didn't have the benefit Jay White had of returnning into a stacked roster and with numerous great opponents and storyline options. He came back to find just the dregs, and is expected to make magic with them. In that sense I pity him... but it is also such moments that truly seperate the greats from the benchwarmers.

Shota needs to decide if he wants to be an Okada or a Yoshi Hashi.
