Half of them are mandatory, and the other half isn’t necessarily mandatory, but if you don’t do them, you’re putting yourself and your book at a disadvantage. A warning on official copyrights and ISBNs. Make sure your novel/novella is edited and ready to go before you get them. Major changes invalidate them, and you will have to get new ones.

In the U.S. now, you cannot sue for any copyright infringement unless you registered your book with the U.S. Copyright Office. You might have an automatic copyright when you write your book, but you can't do anything about it unless it's registered.
