I don't know, there's something about loading 3 or 4 4x8 sheets of plywood into my Sienna that no wagon (except for my parents '78 Caprice qagon) can stack up to and not sacrifice the gas mileage...

Yes, comfortable it is but if you are automotive engineer then you should know that, for example, BMW X6 handles better than most station wagons and THAT car handles like a sports car. You just need to search for professional reviews and you'll see. I saw it myself driving new X3 and the way it grips and changes direction with almost no body roll - now that's engineering! True, not every SUV's or SAV handles like that but BMW was always way ahead in terms of handling than many others (I'm not exclusively BMW fan, I consider myself a true petrolhead and we appreciate every well engineered car.) Porsche also - handling like most stations wagons lack. Volvo's are great, their station wagons are amazing, loved driving some of them. And yes, they look good. Not on the inside but that's a matter of personal taste (steering wheel for example is just not well designed, it looks like just something that they took and slammed Volvo sighn on it).
