Quick Look: Gameboy Pocket by XReArt

XReArt were nice enough to send me this Gameboy Pocket display/art - so lets take a quick look.

My thoughts would be that if there was something wrong with the Gameboy itself, it was probably with the screen.

So when do we get to put it back together? 😂

Yes, I think you should try to repair it. LOL

Dunno. Id prefer a display case for a working model surrounded by printed graphics of PCBs, specs history etc.

I think you should keep it exploded but make a sort of backplane pcb to make it functional while still in the frame. Maybe adding a modern IPS screen and a snes port to the side of the frame? In my opinion that would be glorious. I think that would fit the inspiration of the piece much better than what they did here.

This technology was made to perform a particular function. It's always annoying while visiting a technological exibit that a functional piece cannot be observed while operating and performing its function.

Thanks for sharing. This is interesting but I struggle to know who the audience is for this. I guess someone who is a huge gameboy fan and just wants another way to look at their favorite device, perhaps? But at the same time, looking at dead hardware might not be for a lot of the retro community. :)

i like these alot since i saw the exploded iphone and androids they made a while ago. i think 169 (down from 200) is still too much for this one but if they added a red color and the option to choose what you wanted to show on the screen I would probably have to get one with pokemon red displayed.

The retro shack did a build video of one of these as you can get them as a kit. Personally I think this is ugly as hell. It was never meant to be art. I think it's for retro and tech wannabe people.

Take it apart and repair be it out keep it as spare parts.

Side note, woman cave just doesn't work as well as man cave. It conjures very different images for me.

Second note, I didn't mind the video. Your channel your content. Next one will surely be better😀
