Go check out dmctools(dot)com, they have a really good library for which crimp tool/die to use with each pin and wire diameter, also for get yourself a baggage scale and do a pull test on a test-crimp. For MIL-spec motorsport/aviation connectors the minimum is usually around 14lb for 22awg wire for example
