Options > Gameplay Options > HUD > Display Health bar Numbers.

I'd enable everything under that HUD menu if you want max info.

Sometimes people miss things when we think that's just how it is supposed to be. I spend a lot of time getting my options right but it took me ages to discover the salvaging one (my missus actually googled if there was an easier way in the middle of one of my HC series episodes). Those of us who watch a lot of YT, read a lot of forums/reddit have a bit of an advantage when it comes to this sort of thing ;)

I made it to inferno without elective mode :p
