Rowdy Gaines relives the 1980 Olympic Boycott: Gold Medal Minute presented by SwimOutlet.com

3-time Olympic gold medalist, Rowdy Gaines, shares his experience during the 1980 Olympic Boycott. Gaines was in his prime in 1980, a star swimmer set to win multiple Olympic medals. Gaines stayed in the sport and made it to the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles where he won gold in the 100 meter freestyle, 4x100 freestyle relay, and as the freestyle anchor leg on the 4x100 medley relay.

As the voice of swimming, Gaines has been the NBC color analyst for the network's U.S. coverage of the Olympic Games since the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. Gaines covered the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona as well on NBC's cable broadcast. The 2016 Olympic Games in Rio will be Gaines' 7th time behind the microphone.

Gaines was interviewed at the 50m pool on the U.S. Olympic campus. Gaines was there to host a Fantasy Camp to raise money for the USA Swimming Foundation's mission to save lives and build champions.
