7. Whirly bird , Neal Hefti, Basie Jazz suite, Archysax.net

Показать описание
From the Jazz album "The Atomic Mr Basie", recorded for "Roulette records" on 21–22 October 1957, at Capitol studio in New-York.
This is the seventh title on that album, with an original harmonic structure , with theme saxes tutti with a trombone tutti response first then tutti .
Only one soloist :
Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, on tenor sax. (who have solo on many titles of that album). His solo is transcribded and played here, not quite easy to do, because of these very original concept and vocabulary, never imitated, without any diatonic or chromatic phrasing, and frequent mix or diffent modes and "out" playing.
After him tutti orchestra.
Composed and arranged by Neal Hefti, who wrote the whole album.
Transcription by Pascal Thouvenin, in a project proposing the entire album transcripted, to play live in a "Count Basie tribute"; this one called "Mr Atomic Basie Big Band Jazz Suite".
