10 Cities Black Americans Are Moving To

Today I am going to tell you where Black Americans are moving to in 2023 and 2024. There are about ten different questions I get weekly via email. Most are related to relocating, real estate prices, and what is a good fit. When they ask if it is a good fit, it is typically a question about fitting in. Most of those are Black Americans asking if I think people at whatever location they are talking about will have a problem with Black folks or mixed-race families. In my opinion, it shouldn’t matter. You can move wherever you want. Sadly, the reality is different. You can move to any place, but do you want to? Nothing like moving your family across the country for a fresh start and finding out 4 in 10 of the local residents might have an issue with you moving into their neighborhood.
So, I wanted to make this video but wasn’t sure how to do it without relying on reputation, rumors, and stereotypes. Then I figured if we find out what cities Black Americans have been moving to over the last ten years. If they have been moving there, you have to assume, for the most part, it will be a friendly city for Black Americans and Mixed race families.
Black college students play a big part in the migration to cities. North Carolina is an excellent example of North Carolina State University and The University of North Carolina.
That’s what we are doing today.

My family is trying to leave America all together. We are actively getting everything together so we can leave this pits of hell. America is mentally and emotionally exhausting.

Thank you for calling us black Americans. I'm glad to not be considered African American anymore and I mean absolutely no disrespect to any African countries (especially Kenya Ghana Rwanda Botswana and Tanzania!) it's just that we have absolutely no idea about our African roots. We are black American! Edit: Us black folk are black folk!

Two of my sons live in Houston, Texas. My oldest son moved there in 2011 after he graduated high school. He's done very well for himself.
He had a house built from the ground up last year...!!!

I’m a 2nd generation northerner African American. Both sides of my family fled from the southeast to the Northwest in the 40s to escape Jim Crow. Now I’m looking into going back down south. (Mainly because of the COLD winters) I can’t take the cold no longer it hurts me down to my bones 😂 The only thing that worries me about the south is BUGS…great video!

I live in Nashville & honestly can’t believe we made this list! Especially being so high up! I guess we hide out here because I never see enough black folks when I go out

Briggs thank you for having the courage to make this video. Living here in Southern California a lot of us as Black people are moving out of California. Your video along with other You Tube creators have helped us with ideas on where to move. I want to say this... racism is a mentality that stems from (in my opinion) from a deep insecurity about one's self. It shouldn't matter about one's skin color because when a person's life is over will it matter? Life is too precious and short for all the hatred in this world.

Thanks for making this video. It’s nice that someone is willing to just state the fact that there are areas in this country where black people are uncomfortable or even unsafe. This was a nice video

I wish ALL people could move/live anywhere they want to, but the danger and harassment is just not worth it.😔

Immediately caught me off guard with Denver. Was not expecting that at all.

I’m a Black American woman living in Orlando, Florida and the traffic is HORRIBLE because of tourists. My boyfriend who isn’t Black American but is Haitian American usually drives everywhere for me. I only drive to my hair and nail appointments by myself. I don’t like driving and I hate dealing with traffic. Also the rent here has gone up yet they still won’t raise the income. Actually everything has gone up because of inflation. Also I experienced racism multiple times in Orlando as well. I originally came from Philadelphia and never experienced racism until I moved to Florida. Orlando is a great place to visit but not live.
