I participated in a class action law suit, something about Verizon, and was sent a check for less then a dollar. I had an argument with the bank teller about it, insisting he deposit it despite the small amount. If someone went through the trouble to draft me a 75 cent check, I am going to deposit it, because that's hilarious.

How much is it "these notices look like scams" vs. "scams evolved to look like these notices" I always wonder. I noticed about 15 years ago that students stopped noticing insets in textbooks because they'd grown so accustomed to breezing right past internet ads that were initially designed to resemble those insets to GET the readers' attention.

Despite being one of the original backers (before they bait and switched to a battle royale game), and despite my kids buying nearly $300 worth of loot boxes that I couldn't get refunds for, I never got a notice. They didn't try hard at all.

Usually, the most important part of class actions is the change in the industry it causes, due to the risk of more of these class actions. For example, in Australia, a class action forced banks from charging fees for using the ATMs of other banks, so Australians can use any banks ATM to withdraw money without a fee.

I was almost involved in a CAL. About 9 years ago, I worked for Panera Bread and it was the worst year of my entire life. A few years later, their parent company was being sued for violating California labor laws (they got dinged on SEVERAL things, many of which I experienced or witnessed. One violation even resulted in me needing a doctor's visit that I absolutely should have sued over, but I was young, broke, and exhausted)

I called the attorney's office the minute I got the letter and told them I'd be happy to add my stories to the complaints. But either it got dismissed or they settled before I officially got added onto the plaintiff's roster, because I never heard from them again.

Also... don't go to Panera, y'all. They treat their employees like shit and everything is frozen and in a bag.

I always wondered why they made those look scammy. I had one from Bank of America or something for their crazy fees and the email and website looked so cheesy I thought for sure it was a Nigerian scam. Later I found it was real. But still, not worth the risk in my opinion. I'm sure they do it on purpose.

Can we all just acknowledge the smoothness of his transitions to the sponsored content? Also, I've never gotten more than $1.37 from any class action I've signed onto. I basically sign on out of pettiness and spite. 😂
