This means that the error in the solution decreases at a rate proportional to the square of the step size. In a second-order RK method the solution is estimated using two intermediate values called slopes which are calculated based on the derivative of the solution at different points within the time step. The final solution is then obtained by combining these slopes in a weighted average.
