I want it to be known that "hyperactive" doesn't just mean bouncing off the walls; it also (and more commonly) means interrupting conversations, being impatient, impulsive, and feeling like your brain is running at a million miles an hour and you can't stop it. Which definitely causes you to think a lot and want to say everything that's on your mind, hence the ENTP personality as a downstream.

I’m INTP but was diagnosed with inattentive type ADHD. I’m always lost in thought. Probably spend 80% of the time in my head and 20% in the real world.

You are absolutely an ENTP. An estp would rather play sports than make youtube videos about abstract concepts like mbti

Thanks for this video, I can't stress enough on how bad the Ne descriptions are. On the surface it's kinda absurd to be comparing a cognitive function to a disorder. But we do it because it's assumed Ne functions that way. I'm an INTP with adhd and for three years, I thought it was all Ne being Ne, I ignored all the symptoms, the emotional disregulation and that constant itch in your head. It was terrible and it's been way better after clarifying on what was actually "wrong" with me. We gotta update the Ne descriptions to something that actually lines up with how Jung and Beebe defined it

I mistyped as an ENFP for years due to my ADHD. I'm actually an INFP. Lol

ENTP and ADHD are definitely very closely related.

I'm Ne dom and my bro is Se dom; he was diagnosed with ADHD long before I was (primarily because his ADHD conflicted badly with your typical sit-down-and-shut-up school day, and I with my quieter ADHD thrived in that environment), so I implicitly associate Se with ADHD more than I do Ne. But it's def not synonymous with either.

Btw, when you talked about being annoyed with Ne types talking, it reminded me so much of my brother. He hates when he wants a simple, short answer to something and I launch into all the context and nuance of the topic 😅

Very good points!
In addition, amateurs engaging in typing services are not trained to recognize things like ADHD (and there is a very long list of them) and do not know how they can affect the way a personality presents. Indeed, they don't even bother to check with the subject to see whether they have been diagnosed with any of them. Yet they can greatly skew the way a person seems.

It’s not preface, it’s information that together with all the other information gives the answer or scope of possible answers. There’s nuance that is very accurately portrayed which may just sound to many listeners as the same thing repeated when it is not. But the terrible thing is that most Entp’s assumption is you are following them, when most listeners are just nodding but thinking, “Where is the point? When is it coming?” So they sift and all that carefully put together speech is lost on them. The Entp says, “But I told you this last time.” And the listener often just shrugs and thinks the Entp waffles lots but doesn’t say much. Very frustrating.
To solve, Entps need to realise the world in general really doesn’t care so just tell them what you need them to know, the short version. And if you don’t need them to know anything, don’t spend time on them. They’re ignorant; it’s their problem. Only share your golden information with those that actually care.

I’m a intp and I have add but once I learned about mbti and enneagram I just can’t see myself as having some diagnoses now or add I see myself as a intp. And it’s been much more helpful for me to learn about typology systems more then anything else and I feel free now. Great topic 😀

I'm an ENTP or ENTJ(could be an entj too i tested many times and got ENTJ but my adhd is confusing me ) have combined type Adhd. I always saw this correlation.

I felt so seen when you said the thing about thinking you can't be a high Se type because of being in your head so much (or however you put it). I'm pretty sure I have ADHD (I would say do, but I've never gotten around to an official diagnosis, very ADHD of me T_T) and so I can be very distractable, but also very hyper-focused, depending on the situation. I really don't relate to the idea of being a master of the sensory, but also if I look at the trajectory of my life, there's very little clarity in long-term future thinking/planning (looks a lot like inferior Ni). I tend to have had this approach of adopting a vague long-term plan and thinking it'll work out and then it doesn't work out how I thought it would. The short-term stuff, I can be pretty effective at as long as I know what I want to do, but working it out long-term trips me up so easily. But idk, maybe that's a possible ADHD trait too and has nothing to do with MBTI in my case.

... or perhaps it is the other way around, that ADHD part of a normal variations of Briggs Myers.

Idk but i typed myself as ENTP and for now, i am sure about that, but still, idk, bc I have self-diagnosed ADHD, so it was even more difficult for me to type myself, than it probably should've, but I think that I finnaly did it, lol

All intuitive types will test into adhd diagnosis. The test is right brain/ left brain. Intuitive types are right brain dominant. Adhd is simply a clinical diagnosis that your right brained. Add up the percentage of population are intuitive types. It's just slightly higher then adhdh. The mbti is a stand alone psychological assessment and doesnt omit any mental disorders associated with any other type. as result it essentially breaks down adhd into 4 different categories. I'm in a group of 8000 members diagnosed with adhd. The 4 different types stick out like a sore thumb. There are also intuitive types who simply just haven't tested for adhd. But know there different then the majority and like you could be tested to have adhd at anytime if mediation would be beneficial. Don't get crossed up because there separate. Adhd and the word disorder has got you confused. It's just as much of a personality type

I don’t think adhd would lead to a mistype. It’s not like adhd is a curable disease. It’s just a different type of cognition which will predispose people to certain personality traits. Personality typing and cognitive abilities aren’t mutually exclusive. They’re just different analyses of the same people which will help us understand ourselves better

I'm fairly certain I'm an INTJ, although I may seem more like an INTP or even INFP, and I had been formally diagnosed with ADHD and Asperger's back prior the the nuking of the DSM.

Very very interesting topic here... Really interesting points... did I say interesting? : ) thanks for the vid. As an Se dom I do relate to most of the ADHD signals, but not sure since I never been diagnosed.. perhaps I was incorrect about my type as ISTP for a while and that's it. Not sure if this relates to me at all but it is interesting nonetheless. Thanks for sharing
