Android just changed forever

The Epic court cases have been a wild ride. Awesome to see real change as a result. New restrictions on the Google Play Store might let competition finally succeed.

i'm used to downloading apks but i'm glad that alternate app stores will become available to people who aren't tech experts

Apple did not work around the DMA! They chose an approach that IS BEING CHALLENGED.
They already nearly got fined twice and the EU commission is considering taking them to court of they continue to try to wind themselves out of compliance.
Apples failure to to actually comply does not constitute a failure of the act.

I'm fine with most of the points in this ruling, but I don't like that now Google has to make these changes and Apple can continue having a more restrictive platform than Android. I can also easily see Apple take advantage of this by saying that iOS is now even more secure than Android because they keep you safe with the App Store, while Android allows anyone's app store on their phones.

Takeaways: Apple can disable your desktop computer remotely, and TPTB have chosen Apple as the arbitrary special child of Silicon Valley. Every other brand is in danger.

2:30 Hell nah, google play apps are the ones that are bloated in malware, third party stores work just fine.
My parents use Android with all the protection and their phones are mamaged by hackers in rusia, mine and my brother's android have never seen a google play app instaled and we they are fine.

13:45 Image that "21 step process" was also for getting through the UAC on Windows to just install ANYTHING! Imagine it took 21 clicks (after downloading the installer) to install Chrome or Firefox or Steam

13:55 - the autoblocking is a one or 2 steps to turn it off not 21 steps. It's just 21 steps to install an app outside of the appstore with it enabled.
