SAHAGUN, SPAIN

Показать описание
2018 Sep 12, Day 12 -- This short video shows our travel account on the day we visited the town of Sahagun, a pilgrimage stop-off, considered as the half-way point between St. Jean Pied de Port and Santiago de Compostela by most pilgrims. Sahagun is a very small quiet town with not much to see other than remnants of its glorious past. Evidently, centuries of splendor and prosperity of the town and the Royal Monastery of San Benito went on rapid decline following series of wars and fires. To date, only 3 elements remain standing in the Royal Monastery -- the iconic southern door of the monastery "Arch of San Benito", the chapel of San Mancio, and the Clock Tower. Nonetheless, this old monastery is of Cultural Interest Asset in the category of Historical Monuments and the town is significant to pilgrims as it connects to Santiago de Compostela as part of the Jacobean Route (French Way). Our next stop -- Leon.
