An example of how prestigious Crimean Khans were in Ottoman imperial court:
When someone met the Sultan, they would kneel before him and kiss his hand or hem of his garment as a sign of respect, obedience and loyalty. However, when Ottoman sultans met their Crimean vassals, they would stand up from their throne and hug the Khans, even calling them their brothers. Even the Grandviziers, who were second to the Sultan in protocol, weren't welcomed like that. Of course, their place in protocol was changed to be equal to the Grandvizier after the failed 2nd Siege of Vienna.
Also, Sultan Murad IV actually tried to murder all of his own dynasty (whom he considered incompetent and corrupt) and leave the throne to the House Giray. We could see a Giray Empire if he was successful.

I think it will be great if Islamic history channels do a fund raising for Yemen, Syria or palestine by making a playlist together.

Im a west african muslim, and admit to the fact that I have overlooked the muslim history of this area, its pretty unknown that 40 percent of all of europes muslims are concentrated in these areas

Interested to learn what happens after 1502... I usually don't read beyond when the Girays took the title of Khan from Shaykh Ahmad!

If im not mistaken the Giray dynasty at some point was also a guarantor dynasty to the Ottoman empire. If somehow the Ottoman dynasty could not provide legitimate heir to the throne the Giray dynasty was supposed to step in and be the Padisah of the Ottomans basically Giray dynasty would lead the Ottoman empire. That is also why at some point young Crimean heirs would live in the Ottoman palace from young age. They would get an education which a Sultan of the empire gets

I'm very glad to see this Project created but at the same time I wish it would have different circumstances.
I would love to see a similar project about Lithuania and Belarus (as the two modern nations are both hiers to the legacy of the historical multietnic Grand Duchy of Lithuania).

It would be a perfect opportunity for you to make a video about the Lipka Tatars.

Great episode, sir! Kudos to a great pronounciation of Giray last name.
PS One of the descendants of the Giray clan was a vounteer medic during Azovsal factory seige last month, not sure if he's still alive. He published a video message shortly before the factory was bombed to dust and everyone got imprisoned.

Ukrainians lived in the north, Russians lived in Northeast, not in the Black Sea Coast. Crimean Tatars have Turkic, Slavic, Greek, Italian, etc mix.
