I saw her story many years ago and that fact the she considered suicide several times while in prison, hating what she had to do to protect people from certain death; then afterwards becoming an OB delivering hundreds of babies! Truly a remarkable, strong lady ❤

I sometimes forget that my troubles are so minor that I’m humbled by stories like this.

She was a very, very brave woman. In the 80's I had an friend, Ester, who always wore long sleeves, even in the worst summer heat. Once, she forgot herself and pushed them up. There it was on her left forearm, the tattooed numbers. I saw them and began to tear up. So she told me her story, a tale of horror. She lost her mother right after they got off the train at Dachau. Her mother was holding her youngest of three, a 6 month old boy. The guards moved to take the child from her arms so that they could kill him. She fought them so they shot her right there in front of her daughters. Ester's father had to hold her and her screaming 15 yr old sister back from rushing to their mother. 10 yr old Ester could only cry. In the months ahead Ester's big sister would give most of her meager food rations to Ester to keep her alive. Ester's sister eventually died from starvation. Ester managed to survive til allied forces freed the prisoners. She found out that her father had been shot months earlier. Like so many others her entire family was slaughtered. The world cannot let what happened then ever happen again.

The weight of what those people endured is horrific.

Just makes you shiver when you hear the depth of the abuse. The prisoners went through. There’s no words my heart is upside down.

Yet, it seems, many have forgotten and learned nothing from this historical travesty upon humanity. My heart weeps for humanity

OMG, that she was able to use that terrible time as motivation to care for women and babies after the holocaust. What an incredible woman.

The prayer she prayed before each delivery- heart wrenching. Thankfully she did live to deliver thousands of babies. The survivors- a very amazing and special people.

I broke down and cried when I saw this. What a horrific thing to have to do, yet she held onto her faith and expected and received blessings. What resilience.

OMG. The horror. This broke my heart and I cried for her. I cried for those babies. I cried for those mothers. And I cried for humanity. May we never forget the horror of this and every war. My wish for this world is that war is illegal and that we would all work together and help each other. Imagine a world like that...❤
