Kart Track Turned ICE RINK (But why?)

This is the MOST SLIPPERY kart track I've ever experienced....

Now on this channel, I've documented some pretty torrential conditions before. Any despite often having much wetter conditions than these, nothing else has come close to how treacherous this experience was. But why??

Well this is 12 hours into a 24 hour race, and according to race officials, over 314lbs (142.5kg) of rubber was deposited onto the track throughout the race.

THAT IS A LOT OF RUBBER... And when that rubber gets wet, it releases greasy oils up from the track surface.

On top of that, typically when race tracks get wet, the strategy is to drive off the traditional racing line to avoid those rubbered in areas (the wet line), but in this case with 47 multi-class karts, there is rubber in unusual places.

For example, sometimes the faster DMAX karts will be overtaking the slower SODI karts around the outside, putting rubber off the traditional racing line.

This happens on normal roads with full-sized cars and treaded tires, too. The only solution to driving on a light rain or a first rain in a long time is to do so VERY carefully and double, if not TRIPLE, your following distances.
