The Erotes and friends

The EROTES were the winged gods of love, lust and sex, a multiplication of the god Eros. They all had wings, crowned with flowers, hot youthful bodies, and ran around naked. Like big brother, they carried bow and arrows as weapons, often randomly aimed, made people, heroes, and gods fall in love - no one was immune.
Sometimes the erotes are playful and harmlessly mischievous but at other times thy're cruel with surprise attacks that bring only reckless passion and confusion, the gods toying with their victim as with a helpless leaf caught in the wind. They're the protectors of homosexual love.

Their number was varied--Hesiod describes a pair, Eros (Love) and Himeros (Desire) who were present at the birth of Aphrodite, while later writers add a third, Pothos (Passion), to create a triad of goldings. Twin Erotes, Eros (Love) and Anteros (Love Reciprocated) were often portrayed gracing the scales of love.
