Yry to get as close to spec as possible. Most important one voltage. They make 5v 6v then 7.5 v 9v then 12v 15v 16v 17v 18v 19v 20v 24v 30v 36v. You get the idea.
Amp or some call waltage. Replace supply each peice may not use the same wording. Google how many amps 2 is in waltage is.

Is you go over it could run hotter. Under rating working to hard to keep up.
You can use like 10-20% under over spec for a little while. Until your order comes in.
This information about all equipment not just laptop.

Amps .5 and 500mah or the same, got it, good. MAH most times use for under one amp rating. 1000mah same as 1amp

I apparently from what i can see have the rarest charger in the world sold exclusively by scalpers on ebay. This sucks.

However the voltage knob o the adapter is quite dumb. Any kid can change the voltage which will damage the pc.

I have an HP Probook. I found where it says 19v, but I can not find the watts. The stickers (two of them) are on the bottom. If there should be more, I wouldn't know. I bought it refurbished several years ago, but I have not had to use it much yet. My son has Aspergers and loses many things???? Some things he just throws away??? I don't understand why he does what he does. Please help, I need to fix this. I have barely used it. I can get you any info from the sticker if that would help. Thank you

It's common for generic adaptors to have a poor fit at the plug which eventually causes damage to the laptop. Having a multi voltage unit is also a recipe for disaster as you can easily put the wrong voltage into your laptop and destroy it. It's worth a few extra bucks for a genuine adaptor.

I have a HP 24f monitor which came with 19v 1.58amp 30w. Now it is blown and i can only find 19.5v 3.33amp 60w can i use that on my monitor ?

FWIW - Steve I would hate to disagree.  I can see where a universal power adapter would fill your needs but for an individual my first preference would be to look on eBay for an Genuine or OEM adapter for the desired laptop.  I also have no problem with buying a used adapter, since MINE would have been used up until the time it was damaged ( chewed on by a pet ).  A universal adapter has too many chances of 1) poor connection with an adapter that has to plug into a second adapter  2) selection of wrong voltage or chances the voltage selector switch could get accidentally changed from handling or bumping into something.

I have multiple old Lao tips and a box full of ac plug in charges from all sorts of things. From hand held spot lights to calculators and everything in between
Need more precise info then what this video gives in how to match a charger
Of course the connection needs to fit but how do you compare the output volt and amp of the charger to the laptop ?
In this video you said the watts needed to be the same or HIGHER, is that correct ?
I have several laptops that don’t give watts, only volts and amps
Any more specific info regarding what will work and where do numbers cross the line and become a problem would be appreciated
As of now I see NO info on u tube All only basically advise buying a multiple use

I have a MSI Katana GF76 and it comes with an underpowered 20V 7.5A 150W external PSU to where it kills the battery when playing resorce demanding games. Would it damage the laptop for me to use a PSU with higher amperage?
