Why We Need To Let Trans Athletes Play

For Pride this year I wanted to have a conversation that has been weighing heavy on my heart. There is anti-trans sports legislation popping up all over the country and it’s mainly targeting high school athletes.

I truly believe that sport is a human right and no one should be denied an experience that is integral in so many of our lives. So I sat down with powerlifter JayCee Cooper and triathlete Chris Mosier to talk about why we all need to join the fight to put a stop to this.

Disagreeing with this topic doesn't mean that I'm transphobic. And I very much disagree with this topic.

Hard to believe that someone who actually partakes in a strength and endurance based sport would claim that biological men do not have a physical advantage over biological women.

why didn't you interview an array of biological women on their stance on competing vs a trans-athlete? That would be a much more honest approach.

What about the mental health and the rights of the biological females who are being competed against? Training your entire career to be the top of your field and out-competing all the other biological females to then lose everything you've ever worked for because someone who has undergone and benefits from the effects of male puberty just destroys any chances you have of standing out in your respective field must be fucking devastating. It's wrong in ever sense of the word. It's unfair.

It’s not an “idea” that male athletes perform better than female athletes strength wise. It’s? Common sense? A proven fact?

Why don't biological men compete against biological women? Because biological men are genetically different to women - they have different body make-ups, different hormones and different muscle composition.
Most of these differences do not change when someone transitions. Therefore it is not a level playing field if a trans woman competes against cis women. This is scientific fact, not transphobia.

This has happened. Fallon Fox was a trans MMA fighter who competed in womens MMA. Won all 3 of their fights in the first rounds, one by KO, one by TKO and one by submission. One of those women ended up in hospital with a *fractured skull*. Another said she had “never felt strength like that before”- comments she made *before* finding out that her opponent had been trans.

Don’t. Talk. Shit.

Imagine if Dwayne The Rock Johnson identified as a female and competed in the women weight lifting division. It wouldn’t be fair now would it?

Why not allow women to play in men’s pro soccer, football, and basketball? There’s a practical reason why it won’t happen but no one here will say it.

you don’t see any trans women in men’s sport

Giving trans women the RIGHT to compete in women’s sports does NOT take away biological women’s RIGHT to compete, but it does strip opportunities from biological women, let alone the fun/exhilaration of competing.

It’s difficult to truly compete when you know before the sport even begins you will always lose, no matter how hard you train.

They are not taking away your ability to play sport, just who you play against.

It's not a human right, it's a human activity.

It's interesting to watch people talk about subjects that have nothing to do with them. I haven't met a single female athlete that wants trans women, or men in their sport. It is their sport.

I really like your content, but I respectfully disagree. Look at the case of Mary Gregory, the trans athlete who broke 4 women's powerlifting records in a single day during Masters 2019. Biological sex influences muscle building more than any other segment of the human body outside of reproduction, and if biological males are allowed to compete in women's athletics, there will be very few women who are competitive in that arena.

Women's sports often struggle to compete popularity wise with men's sports. This right here is how you cap that off by making women's sport utterly irrelevant and pointless.

If a woman can qualify for a men’s sport fine but the other way around would never be fair. Why is that hard

Just let them participate, once all biological female records are replaced by trans, when scholarships and sponsorships are gone, then we will see what people really think.

I’ll give you a hint, the majority of people DO NOT want this. I think you need to interview women athletes, as this will impact them the most.

I have experienced this issue first hand. I have a 17 1/2 years old daughter and 16 years old son. Both are trained to be D-1 tennis players. Both my daughter and son start training for tennis at the age of six. As of May 7th, 2021, my son has a 13 UTR tennis rating while my daughter has a 10 UTR tennis rating. Both of them train same amount of hours for the past ten years (actually eleven years for my daughter). My son is 6 feet 1 inches tall and weighs at 178 lbs. My daughter is 5 feet 7 inches and weighs at 120 lbs. If my son is competing against my daughter in tennis, the score would be 6-0 6-0 in less than 30 minutes. My son can serve a lot faster and hit the ball much harder than my daughter. My daughter would have ZERO chance. Now if my son decides to declare himself to be female, he would beat just about all the girls on the tennis team. Think of it this way, Novak Djokovic would take out Serena Williams 6-0 6-0 in less than 30 minutes and it is not even a fair fight.
