City and Colour's "O' Sister from Little Hell.

Oh sister
What's wrong with your mind?
You used to be so strong and stable
My sister
What made you fall from grace?
I'm sorry that I was not there to catch you

What have the demons done?
What have the demons done?
With the luminous light that once shined from your eyes
What makes you feel so alone
Is it the whispering ghosts
That you feared the most?
But the blackness in your heart
Won't last forever
I know it's tearing you apart
But it's a storm you can weather

Oh sister
Those lines etched in your hands
They're hardened and rough like a road map of sorrow
My sister
There is a sadness on your face
You're like a motherless child who's longing for comfort
What's running through your veins
That's causing you such pain?
Does it have something to do with the pills they gave to you?
What is eating at your soul?
Was it the whispering ghosts that left you out in the cold?

But the blackness in your heart
Won't last forever
I know it's tearing you apart
But it's a storm you can weather

Oh sister
My sister

My sister died one week ago today. This song makes me cry every time! Decribes her so well. We are playing it at her memorial today. I love you Ashley Michelle Boler!

Definitely one of the saddest and best songs I have ever heard.

Music cuts deep when it's real and relevant and true and beautiful.

I've been where she is. this song wasn't in my life at the time, but it's like I can reach out and touch that old me when I hear this and the truth is, I came through so much shit that I thought was going to kill me. this song is speaking to the hurt that I still have for that me. I was so deeply darkened and afraid and alone. but I live by the power of light today. I'm crying saying this right now but in one month I will celebrate 3 years of sobriety from heroin & crack and it's been such a rewarding & painful . so if your heart is still black, don't EVER GIVE UP. there is love out here waiting for you you only need accept it for yourself. god bless Dallas green for putting his thoughts into song.

This song brought me to tears, my sister was once the kindest little lady you would ever meet, then one man took her innocence and she's never been the same, she's empty and always upset. I don't think I could relate to a song more than this <3

My sister is a heroin addict and is living in a shelter. She won't let anyone help her. This song reminds me of her and brings me to tears.

A friend just went missing this week, on Wednesday they found out she commited suicide and yesterday her body was cremated. We weren't super close or anything remotely like this, but the feeling of "maybe I could have done something to help" is hitting hard now. This song fits painfully...

My best friends sister was going through depression so I decided to show him this song, he later shared it with his sister who thanked him and me for it. I felt so bad for her.. At least she's well now

I adore this song. Makes me want to learn to play the guitar and learn to sing so I can sing this to my sister to realize she CAN overcome her depression, she still has the strength within her, she just needs to realize it.
