Last night I lay asleeping,There came a dream so fair; I stood in old Jerusalem beside the temple there.
I heard the children singing, And ever as they sang, Me thought the voice of angels From heav'n in answer rang;
Me thought the voice of angels From heav'n in answer rang.

Jerusalem! Jerusalem! Lift up your gates and sing, Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna to your King!

And then me thought my dream was changed, The streets no longer rang, Hushed were the glad hosannas
The little children sang. The sun grew dark with mystery, The morn was cold and chill,
As the shadow of a cross arose Upon a lonely hill, As the shadow of a cross arose Upon a lonely hill.

Jerusalem! Jerusalem! Hark! how the angels sing, Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna to your King!

And once again the scene was chang'd, New earth there seemed to be; I saw the Holy City Beside the tideless sea;
The light of God was on its streets, The gates were open wide, And all who would might enter, And no one was denied.
No need of moon or stars by night, Or sun to shine by day; It was the new Jerusalem That would not pass away,
It was the new Jerusalem That would not pass away.

Jerusalem! Jerusalem! Sing for the night is o'er, Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna forevermore!
Pierre Gardy Fontaine performed the holy city with the Redemption Baptist Church Choir directed by maestro Hubermann Larose at the Coral Spring Center for the Arts.

The song's refrain 'Jerusalem! Jerusalem!' and the title 'The Holy City' may have been a reference to the crusaders cry upon reaching Jerusalem.

Beautifully Sung, such an uplifting song. I don't know when, but I believe his time to return is near as there is so such evil taking place in World today. We require his forgiveness for our sins.

Easily one of the best renditions of this beautiful Hymn. Thanks Pierre, for that AWESOME rendition.. ..you hit the high notes so effortlessly You were backed by an equally great Choir and Orchestra. Listening to you sing brought back many memories of my childhood back home in Hyderabad, India where we listened to this Hymn during the Holy Week Services. I get teary eyed listening to you sing. God Bless you

This was one of the songs my mother used as background music while she drew pictures in chalk at summer vacation Bible camps and evangelistic church meetings. Beautiful! I cry at the thought of what our God and Savior did for unworthy sinners such as I, and rejoice at the thought of the coming of the New Jerusalem, when "the night is o'er"! Hosanna forevermore!

This song was played as we entered Jerusalem. There was not a dry eye on our tour bus. It’s been 11 years and I’m crying again. Best experience ever, seeing the Holy City!!!!

Pierre understands the words he is singing and bringing them to his audience.

If he's written down as a baritone it's because of his range. His voice has the timbre of a tenor.

My Brother-in-Christ Pierre Fontaine, you could put bumps on a goose! Awesome vocals! To the orchestra conductor and musicians, one Fantastic performance. And to that angelic choir, the Holy Spirit really uses you to bless the hearers. May God bless you all. And I'll see you there.

My dad passed away a few weeks ago and he used to sing this song and I used to play piano for him. During the eulogy, the minister made a reference to what an awesome job my dad did on this song. So I did a search and found this version. Love it!
