Going Faster - Higher transaction rates
We jump a virtual machine between Power servers POWER9 to Power10.
While monitoring a simple application that counts the transactions per second.
The program will run faster on the Power10 by a significant margin.
This part is easy thanks to the rock-solid Power technology of IBM PowerVM and Live Partition Mobility (LPM); features available on Power Systems for over a decade!
LPM can also be used to help with planned maintenance, load levelling workloads across multiple servers and moving workloads on day 1 to a new server.

Running Leaner - Using Less Electricity
At the same time, we will monitor the electrical power use of the source and target servers.
For the S1024, we will extract the Watts used from the Hardware Management Controller (HMC) using the REST API with Python and then graph it.
The electrical power in Watts used will be lower on the Power10 server, even at the higher transaction rate.
