Ukrainian Update|US C-17s land and dismantle Patriot Missile Systems in Donetsk

During the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2023, the Donetsk Region came under heavy attack from the Russian military. Several of these attacks occurred in late March in 2023, destroying dozens of buildings resulting in civilian casualties. On 9 May 2023, Russian troops attempted to cross the Seversky Donetsk river using a pontoon bridge near Bilohorivka. In doing so, the Ukrainian forces also anticipated the approach and monitored the bridge relief, bombing Russian vehicles that had crossed, causing heavy losses to the Russians.
