Thanks for the 9v battery idea. I did the test with a 9v battery and a 10v dc power supply and the fan seemed to need an assist when starting, I had to spin it up manually sometimes to get to spin. No resistance when turning on the bearing I could tell and the resistance on my meter was about the same as a new one I got. My fan was a Panasonic and I got an OEM one $100! but the thing lasted 16 years so not too bad I guess. So the point is that a multimeter may not tell you it's bad. In my case there was some kind of slight internal resistance that stoped it from starting up - once it was spinning it was fine.

Hey their so my question is does your method work on any motor for the refrigerators? I have a Samsung and seems like it may stop working due to the top of refrigerator being warm and the bottom nice and cold

I thought it was an ac fan motor, no?
