The Apsara are not only dancers, They're also like a pageant, a royal mistress, a celestial human being, a royal political servant..
There are many over 1000 of Apsara figures in the Ankorian knmer temple all unique figures in their own way..and mostly represent the real ancient Khmer ancestors, the bigger the relief the highest position They're in the royal families or servants..

Thank you for your beautiful video. I am proud of my Khmer heritage.
I am glad that there is evidence depicted in the bas relief of the Apsara dancers and the inscriptions in Khmer language because there are those who want to alter history.

Thai or originally known as Siam transformed the apsara dance. They use extension on their fingers and the dance is different. Just like foods that have been influenced by Cambodia through the Khmer empire such as Amok. Thailand invaded the Khmer empire from the North. They were originally of Chinese descent as evident by their tonal language as with the Vietnamese. Modern day Thailand, Laos, Southern Vietnam and Northern Malaysia were once part of the Khmer empire. There were temples built in those areas to represent vast empire. All empires eventually collapse that is a fact but it was a great empire at one time that should not be disputed.

The languages spoken is Sanskrit from India. The Culture is originally coming from the Vedic Culture of India. Apsara is a heavenly celestial woman who dance for Lord Indra. The king of Heaven. - Srimad Bhagavatam.

Very well documented. Thanks for making this video :) One noticeable thing is that Khmer Apsara dancers do not lift their arms higher than their shoulder level. They do not show their armpits like other Apsara dances of the nearby countries.

But in the walls of temples you can see girls wearing a "choli" or short blouse, but here is long... that's because of religion I guess, but it could be more beutiful with that short blouse. And they had other things, their customs had more visual impact than this modern one.

Where does Khmer come from?
Calling the ancient Khom (Varaman) as Khmer, it does not look right because the ancient Khom is the end of the name because the Khmer people ( Mr. Sweet Melon), the slave chief who led the rebellion, killed some of their bosses and set themselves up as kings. For a long time, it was absurd to take over the temple city of Khmer slaves who could not find any reason and result at all to deceive each other in order to dispel the fact that they were the bloodline of slaves and the Khmer people could not give any reasonable answer. This is not possible at all.
- Why did slaves become kings?
- Why did the Khmer dynasty disappear from history?
Why did Lavo, the creator of Ayothaya, who was a relative or ally of Nakhon Wat, who had never fought a war, when the slaves rebelled and killed Khom Woraman Lavo, Ayothaya immediately began to raise an army to attack Nakhon Wat.
After the slavery a man called Sweet Melon became king, and Nakhon Wat progressed to the point of collapse. Then the Khmer people could not build or repair the stone castle again. Art-culture declined and compared to the contemporary kingdom after Nakhon Wat "Ayothaya and the neighborhood" and Ayotha has great buildings with high art. Each neighborhood is almost no different from the forest people hiding in a bamboo fence without any buildings comparable to Nakhon Wat. For hundreds of years, the Khmer people have been weak and defeated.

❓ why don't they dance topless? Is this not a religious dance anymore? Has the west influenced them so deeply they are ashamed of their own religion and traditions? Why are there so many horror movies about these dancers?
