Surprised they never mentioned vomiting, as it's a natural response to consumption of any poison or substance in big amounts. In bath analogy, it could be a valve placed near the edge of a bathtub, being used as a last resort.

Fun fact: 87 double espresso is about 6 litters of water, so you may die from cafein and water at the same time.

There is also that poisonous fish in Japan, fugu. The bathtub is very small, but it kills mostly your heart. With a heart-lung-machine your liver can continue to metabolize the poison until the heart can restart. Not recommended.

Ah so it leaves you on half a heart like Minecraft sometimes. The more potent poison is like the withering effect.

For regular coffee you usually reach LD50 for water before LD50 for caffeine so you are likely to die from water poisoning if you drink to much coffee.
Also water drinking challenges can definitely be lethal and are not a good idea.

I love and appreciate the example with water. It really helps enforce the topic to allow a much stronger grasp of the content - everything is, or can be, toxic - it is all about how much and how fast.

This didn’t actually teach me how to survive poison, but it was very entertaining!

Amusingly, I snorted while drinking espresso at “Draining the main vein”

1:03 - Found how I can treat my B12 deficiency, thanks MinuteEarth!

The "cyanide is converted into b12" bit is an example of "so simplified, it's wrong". Cyanide is converted into thiocyanate. It can complex with b12 (as is the case with hospital treatment of cyanide poisoning), but it eventually ends up as thiocyanate and excreted in the urine.

I thought "draining the main vein" meant slashing your arteries and bleeding out.

1:45 LOL! 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾 That is without a doubt the best transition from creator content to sponsor ad that I’ve seen EVER seen. So smooth and corny at the same time. And it didn’t come off as cheesy in the least bit. Great video too!

My guess at the answer to the title before starting to watch the video is that your body really doesn't want to die

Another analogy is a lake. The "lake" remains empty until the 'river' of the substance flows in. Some lakes can have a minimum and limit like for the vitamins 'lake' and too little acts as a drought. The 'drains' in the bathtub analogy can be turned into streams and river running out of the lake.
For the effects when the 'lake get larger' like the jitters from double expressos can be like when the surrounding areas are affect when the lakes nearly overfill. And for overfilling the 'tub', is over filling the 'lake'
