Swing Expo 2015 @ Teatro Dal Verme
After the great success of the previous events, the city of Milan hosted another show dedicated to the swing music. Connecting with the spirit of the 2015 Expo that took place in the Italian city the same year, the event showed how traditional music from all over the world influenced jazz and swing music, as well as jazz and swing music influenced folk dances and songs, in a journey through different countries.
The Big Band was directed by clarinettist Paolo Tomelleri and the show hosted a great number of international musicians and dancers.
“Besame mucho” was written in 1940 by Mexican composer and pianist Consuelo Velazquez. According to the musician herself, she wrote it before her first kiss, when she was 24 years old. “Besame mucho” was recognized as the most sung Mexican song in the world.
During the show it was performed by Nicki Parrot, who sang the piece playing her double bass.
