1978 Kawasaki KZ1000 Stretched Custom Build

@KZRevival Completed cleanup of my custom 1978 KZ1000. This bike has a drag bike style with a stretched swingarm and raked front end. I added lots of stainless steel nuts and bolts along with polished original hardware. Lots of newly powder coated and chromed parts. I added spoked rims and a wider rear tire.

Wow Eric, Great Job! The KZ looks amazing. I noticed the kickstart, super cool that you can have both electric and kickstart.

grown up with oldschool kawi's, we have a highly souped up mk2 z1000j, pushing around 158 naturally on the crank. all this needs is some more haha, but jeez what a bike. real life dreams.
cant wait for my mk1 1000 project. good job on the polish to.

That's one fine looking and sounding KZ man. I am Kaw. man from before I could ride, then I got my first trip 400 and rode that for about two months and went and traded it in on my first KZ 650 . Now I have a 78 KZ1000, 76 KZ900 and stach of parts, I was going to start buying restore and sell and so on. Life got in the way and now I'm over that, don't know if I'm going to restore what I have or just get rid of everything. But seeing yours gets me thinking again. Thanks for showing your badass bike, keep up the good work.

Bikes amazing. Love the swing arm and spoke wheels. Sounds like it's not for the uncertain type..

I had a '76 KZ900 and painted it the same color as yours. I installed a 16" Harley rear wheel, an LTD seat, wrinkle-blacked the jugs and added chrome contrasting grills. I really had it looking great and enjoyed it, but unfortunately, a little too much.Yep, I busted my tail one morning after working a night shift and totaled it! Oh well, we live, and we learn! Hang on to that beautiful machine bro, but be careful! Seeya✌

I had a 77 KZ 1000 LTD BACK IN 84 BEST, FASTEST BIKE I EVER OWNED. USED TO GO OUT TO THE AIRPORT AND GET MY GAS FOR RACING 105 Octane. BEAT EVERYBODY IN TOWN. AFTER A WHILE NOBODY WOULD RACE ME. LOL HAVEN'T SEEN ONE IN A LONG TIME.

IMO well worth all the effort you put into the Bike in the mid 1980s i did alot of riding in SouthFlorida where i grew up we used to do day trips fronThe FortLauderdale area north on Highway 27 , Circle Lake Okeechobee and have a bite to eat at some Family Style Restaraunt that was owned by Three or four Sisters we always hung out way too long and needed to haul Ass home Southbound on the Florida Turnpike to make it back in time for the evening shift it was a. group of all types off bikes including Harleys, Gold Wings and some of the newer Sport Bikes r hat Kawasaki was. putting out i chose to ride a mostly Stock 78 KZ 1000 with a nonBaffeled Exhaust and there was always something special about that Motorcycle and the placement of the motor /Center Of Gravity and sound that made it feel in a good way like a Gyroscope was under me ! it wasn’t the fastest in the group but. i could lay down on the tank and make it be i just loved riding that thing and always seemed to have the most fun on those trips always at a consistent over six numbers on the Speedo i also thought that bike was one of the best for riding a Female passenger unlike Cruisers. you didn’t run any backrest on the tail and Momma had to hold on tight enough you could still talk without any hemet electronics

Cool bike bro. I've got a '74 Z1A that looks pretty sweet too. But it has a 1980 engine and some other later model upgrades like twin front disc and rear disc brakes. You have inspired me to make a similar vid of mine. Cheers!
