From misplaced car keys to the tablet hiding under your couch cushions, Find My Device helps you locate your belongings (like your wallet and keys with a tracker tag) and devices (like your phone, tablet and headphones) quickly and safely. You can use it to 'ring' your device to find its exact whereabouts and, if the device is offline or far away, use the Find My Device network to locate it for you — all while keeping location data encrypted and private from Google.

Find My Device network requires location services and Bluetooth, internet connection and Android 9+. Available in select countries, and for age-eligible users.

As a full android user, I've been waiting for this for a long time, but..

This is dead on arrival.

Why?
- Google chose to have the users "With network in high-traffic areas only"-option enabled by default. Google defines "high-traffic areas" but does not disclose what it means.
Not having "With network in all areas"-option by default makes the network not even comparable with Apple's network. Apple did a better job, sadly, again.
In FMD, a tracker being seen by just one stranger will not update its location for the tracker owner. Most users will not even tinker with these settings.
One time Google "cares" about privacy, it does it in a way that inconveniences users.
- FMD does not support Ultra Wideband technology (as of 17.07.2024)
- None of the FMD manufacturers included UWB in their HARDWARE, so it will not be possible for them to simply enable it with a software update.
- FMD devices cost more than AirTags
