The discovery of Microraptor having Black feathers was made an year after Planet Dinosaur was released.
Even if it had been discovered before, PD's Microraptor would still be fine because the colors were only discovered on a specimen that we do not know the species of, and just because one species has certain colors or patterns, doesn't mean all other species in that genus would also have the same colours and patterns.

I was obsessed with this dinosaur as a 7yo, when I say obsessed I mean I had a whole entire notebook dedicated to this thing

Gotta love the skin texture on rhe scales, and the feathers. Its a bit inaccurate of course now, namely colour wise, but it's still a gorgeous design. One of the best models and best looking dinosaurs in the show.

To be honest, I kinda wanna keep a Microraptor as a pet. It's small, it can't eat me, it likes to climb up and glide off from high trees.

Microraptor was basically a hawk or eagle but with teeth and claws. It was probably quite beautiful to look at. That is until it clawed your eyes out lol.

They really did a great job, at both showing the Microraptor as majestic and special and also creating a really tense and not unreasonable hunting scene. Shame they were both plagued with little inaccuracies.
And again, the camera angles made them look much bigger than they were. Like, the wide shots showed their size better, but because small animals are usually shown with zoomed in camera shots, these guys looked like twice as big as they are due to the wider FOVs.


Also, what's with Microraptor not being able to walk? What about its feathers forced it to hop along like that? And is there evidence that Sinornithosaurus actually had any gliding capabilities?

This is fairly un-talked about. But I like how the score playing is relatively subdued and gentle, implying that Microraptor can’t actually fly, just glide
