In the Japanese game, Obake translates to Obake-Kitsune. So a shape shifter makes sense.

Sorry for being late, but I heard from somewhere that the Obake has like a 25% of leaving fingerprints? So was that a lie? My friends usually said when they found fingerprints later during the game that it has to be an Obake since it didn't leave fingerprints earlier. Also, I appreciate you making these guides!
