Huge oak trees are perfect for making treehouses :)I´m happy about that :)

Giant Oak Trees have been in the game, just not between Official Release 1.8 and the present, and just not in Forest biomes. They generated in Jungles and stuff all this time.

If you are very nostalgic about the beta version, why don't you just go back and play it. Don't get me wrong, I am a very nostalgic person as well, but not when it comes to minecraft.

1.9 is my favourite update!
More exploring, more challage, better battle system, better skins, new mob, awsome new 3D weapons and more with commands, Better minigames and more stuff!

Nice video here is a tip did you know there used to be a quiver in minecraft with also sponges would suck water in a two by two area
