This is a gorgeous painting--certainly one of the best cityscapes. I think you have a real advantage having been a builder and craftsman in an earlier life. You really have a solid grasp of shapes, structure, design. It shows. You might very well have been an excellent architect. The colors you chose worked very well. They did not mimic life, but enhanced it with their special vitality. And a great show at the Studio Gallery. It is a treasure and so are you.

A great painting. At first I thought the values would end up on the dark side but the finished result was perfect. Wonderful light reflection and so many surfaces for light to bounce around make it a difficult study, not to mention all the angles and perspective. Love the finished piece.

A nice painting: you said that you were attracted to the light and that's what you painted. I like it very much!

I'm primarily a photographer and my preference is working with black & white film and one of those big old-fashioned view cameras with the cloth thrown over the back. When your video showed that building I completely stopped listening for a moment, the light was so beautiful. My brain flipped modes and I started figuring out how I would photograph it. ;) I would probably have gotten run over by a car somewhere in the process, unless California drivers are much more courteous than Indiana drivers. Thanks for a great video; I appreciate both the painting as well as the gallery tour.
