While it had been on the horizon for a while, many companies were taken by surprise when China's Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) was passed on 20 August 2021 with an effective date of 1 November 2021. Many companies, faced with a tsunami of actions that need to be taken immediately, are struggling to understand what the PIPL means for them and how to do the necessary to get their daily operations in compliance with the PIPL.

This course will do a deep dive into various components of the PIPL. Participants will learn and discuss how companies can apply the requirements of the PIPL into their existing policies for compliance with data privacy/protection laws elsewhere. Knowing how to operationalise the PIPL is key to complying with it.
