Let me apologize pre-emptively: this is going to be a long comment. Frankly, if no one reads it, it's ok. I just need to write this...I'm so glad I got to watch this video, to know Mandy's story. I've loved her since seeing her on AGT and hadn't heard such detail to her testimony. In fact--didn't know she is a believer. In all honesty, I wept through this, as I sit here with bilateral hearing aids thanks to hereditary hearing loss that became unavoidable just after I turned 40. One day, I casually mentioned to my dr "hey, by the way, can you see if I have too much wax in my ears? I'm really having a hard time hearing in crowds or in situations where there is any sort of background noise." And there began that part of my journey, my own beautiful testimony of how God walks with us through the shadow of death. Forget about the valley...my testimony starts with a car accident 10 years ago and spans milestone after milestone of loss, sorrow, pain, and agony. And through it all, I chose to keep my eyes on Him. Until I found out I'd need to wear hearing aids for the rest of my life and possibly will experience further loss. Listening to Mandy, I recognized my own voice, my own experience, and I am reminded once again of His goodness. Here I am at (almost!) 44, and my life looks VERY different than it did 4 years ago. A different career (because working as a manager in customer service at a multi-million dollar restaurant became impossible). A different home (because depression robbed me of my ability to care for my own daily space, and I've needed the love and support of my parents). A different ....well, everything. Every. Single. Thing. is different in my I wouldn't change a second of it. Because honestly, what is most different is my ability to see who I am in Christ. That my identity is found in the blueprint He designed in me. That my heart and my passion is inspired by knowing His love. And that the greatest gift that should flow from my life isn't the work of my hands, but the testimony of how His promises never, ever, ever return empty. When He whispers to my heart (to your heart), He means what He says and He is faithful to complete it. (Thanks for indulging me if you've read this far. I just had to share. :)

46 dislikes, really? I love this girl. She's living proof that people with disabilities can do anything. Deaf people can do anything but hear.

I appreciate that she talked about her experiences without "censoring."
Stories are beyond theories.

So wish my sister Sherry was still alive to "hear" about this young woman and maybe attend her concert. She lost her hearing as a teen and became profoundly deaf. As sisters, singing was a huge part of our upbringing and lives. Because of her deafness, she lost her ability to sing, modulate her voice, and pronounce some of her words correctly, but she did remember melodies in her head and heart, and sang them as best she could! Love to Mandy, and I wish her a continued ability to sing and perform her beautiful music. On a side note, the traditional hymn, It Is Well With My Soul, was one of my sister's very favorites. My other sister, and a friend and I sang it at Sherry's memorial service.
