Braid (PC) Demo Gameplay

This is gameplay footage from the amazing game, "Braid," a platformer that challenges you to collect puzzle pieces while changing the flow of time. In this video, I walk through the first few stages and show some of the puzzle piece locations, the enemies, and so forth. The other worlds you explore present different challenges. In some, for example, simple left and right movements change the flow of time. In others, certain objects will not be affected by the flow of time when they are changed.

Yes, I actually figured this out shortly after creating this video (earlier today). That was definitely one of the puzzles that completely had me stumped at first. The other two worlds are just as brilliant. I can't wait to purchase this gem of a game! They rarely make 'em like this anymore.

You're the only one to say this. It's a game that makes you think, and that looks and sounds beautiful in the process. It's not meant to be an action-packed platformer. You're looking at the wrong game if that's what you're after.

Oh yes, exactly my point. Downloads get lost in time, discs do not. This is a game to have, to actually hold in your hands.

Just floating through download services, Jonathan Blow should think on what that does psychologically to the player.

You have to get all the other puzzles pieces (even in the other levels) to come back and get those last two. What you do is make a bridge (using a piece of the puzzle/portrait that you see just before 1:51) that the little goomba-thing walks onto and falls off, then you jump on its head to get the puzzle piece above the door and walk across the bridge and hop over to the platform just above the door to get the last piece.

The colorful graphical style definitely does remind me of Chuck Rock. The gameplay and setting are vastly different, however. Chuck Rock is sort of your average platformer, whereas Braid is focused on solving puzzles rather than defeating enemies to reach the end of each stage.

As far as I know, it's a download-only game. I do hope they release it in stores eventually, however. This is the reason I haven't purchased it yet. I don't really do the "download-only" thing. If I can't buy the disc/box, I'm not going to pay money for it.

when ever i try to start up this game the screen goes black but the game still runs and i can hear the music help?
